I loved this book, like a lot. It was so sweet, and the story was engrossing in so many ways, I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. Every time I read a book by M. Leighton I find myself completely wrapped up in her words and I always wonder why I wait to read them. All the Pretty Lies was an emotional ride, and I loved every second of it.Sloane Locke was fierce. I rarely say that about characters, but after everything she’d been through and the way her family sheltered her from life the fact that she still had the strength to go after the things she wanted regardless of the potential consequences made her unquestionably fierce.
Hemi, for all his flaws, tugged on my heartstrings. I don’t think he even realized how broken he was and how desperately he was looking for something, anything to help him out of the hole of grief, revenge, and despair in which he was living. Watching him change from the hard, cold, empty person he was when the story began to the whole, loving man he grew into by the end was glorious; more so, because he didn’t even recognize the change happening within him until it was complete.
The plot of All the Pretty Little Lies, while a little predictable, was riveting. I had to keep moving forward to find out if my suspicions were correct and see how Sloane and Hemi were going to deal with the potential fallout from all the secrets they were keeping. Add in the craziness of Sloane’s family, and this book was a little heartbreaking, a little humorous, and a lot hopeful.
All the Pretty Lies is the first book in M. Leighton’s Pretty series. These books are interconnected standalones, and the series does not need to be read in its entirety to get a complete story. The book is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Sloane and Hemi.
The only wish I have for this book would be a little heavier hand in the editing process. There are several errors, not enough to take away from the story but enough to catch my attention.

She’s just turned twenty-one and it’s time for Sloane Locke to spread her wings, to break free of the loving bindings that have sheltered her for far too long. Her family overprotects her and for a reason that she understands but the reader doesn’t for a while though can suspect. But there is more to life than just existing. You have to experience the good and the bad to feel alive. Her first act of rebellion towards life in the here and now is the tattoo that she’s designed and dreamed of getting, a tattoo with a meaning that came from her inner soul. She does not expect the tattoo artist that will do the artwork on her skin and is unprepared for the feelings that he evokes in her body and mind, the electricity that she feels in his presence.
He’s in town on a mission working as a tattoo artist, living a life so different from the indulgent lifestyle that he’s always known. Hemi Spencer is biding his time, seeking information, and nothing will deter his focus for this is personal. And then Sloane walks into his tattoo parlor. She is absolute temptation from the minute they meet even though she is so different from the women that he usually seeks to be with. Their chemistry cannot be denied for long. Soon coincidence or is it fate shows Hemi that Sloane is the means to completing his mission. What would you do to get justice for someone that you loved, knowing that it will inadvertently hurt someone innocent to do so?
These two are both keeping secrets and telling lies because of them but secrets have a way of becoming known when you least want them to. His could prevent them from having a future. Hers could send him running and well let’s just say that the future is unknown to any of us, you have to enjoy every moment as if there’s no tomorrow.
I loved this story! I wish that I hadn't taken so long to get to this one since I loved the second book in the series which I happen to read first. I found the characters to be compelling and the storyline interesting and believable, the emotions palpable with just the right amount of sexiness. Hemi and Sloane were the perfect complement to each other, the missing pieces that they didn’t know they needed. They are each other’s temptation, obsession and perhaps salvation if they can get past the reality of the secrets and the lies told to protect them. I found this book to be a great sexy read.
Michelle Leighton has done it yet again. I haven’t read one book that Michelle has not pulled me in and held me until the end. The Pretty Series was a fabulous series to read. Sloane and Hemi’s story is wonderful and will pull you in from the beginning.
Sloane wants an out. She has been treated like a little girl for so long by her father and brother she doesn’t know how to break that hold quick enough. When she takes 10 steps forward she is then pulled back 20 steps. I mean who wants to live like that? Well now it’s time to live her life the way she wants and Remi is just the person to help her do just that. When she become a “rebel” and decides she’s going to get a tattoo she finds more than just ink.
Hemi is someone who, at a young age, knew what he wanted. I mean at the tender age of 14 years old, things were beginning for him and he wanted it just that way. He’s very sure of himself and knows what he wants and needs. He’s sees something in Sloane that scares him a little but more because he doesn’t want to turn her into something else. He likes her purity and it startles him or maybe just scares him just a little because it’s new. But then all bets are off. Deals, proposals and all of those things make Hemi and happy man!!
Sloane and Hemi’s story is sizzling and it begins from the beginning! This is a great story and a must read!!
